On Thursday, May 3 you are invited to attend "Straight Talk on Race Relations", a panel discussion in the LGI during AL. Former NHS students will be on a panel, sharing experiences from their lives, and taking questions from students, all with the intent of trying to provide NHS students with strategies and information to improve race relations in our community and wherever you might be in the future. To attend, get a permission slip, which will be your pass from AL, during lunch or from Mrs. Young or Mr. Harden. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Young or Mr. Harden.
There will be a mandatory senior graduation meeting on May 3 beginning at 1:05 PM (during AL) in the auditorium. All seniors must attend. If everyone is there on time we will be finished by 2:15 PM. If you have any questions please Canvas message Dr. McCaffrey.
Cap and gown delivery will be on May 3 in the hallway outside the JR/SR cafe. Please be sure to pick up any items you ordered and be prepared to pay the balance of your order if you have one. A Herff Jones cap and gown is required in order to participate in graduation. If you have not ordered a cap and gown yet this will be your last chance. If you have any questions Canvas message Dr. McCaffrey.
SENIORS…… if you believe you have perfect attendance two or more years consecutively and are planning to attend the Academic Honors Program on May 9, stop by the attendance office and have Mrs. Toms or Mrs. Reiss check your record. Deadline for doing this is May 3.
Are you needing or wanting to take summer school courses? The deadline for applications and money is May 1st. If you have questions, please see your counselor or Mrs. Miller. Completed forms and payment can be turned in to Mrs. Davis in the main office.
FCA Club: will meet on Friday, 4/27 in Coach McCauley’s room #2216 from 1:15-1:50pm. Please use the FCA passes issued last fall to attend. If you need a pass please see Coach McCauley. Everyone is encouraged to attend! Cookies served!
Do you like to perform? Deliver passionate speeches? Write poetry? Talk politics?
Auditions for the state & nationally ranked MILLERSPEECH team will take place on Monday, May 7th from 1:15 - 2:15 and 2:45 - 5:45 and Tuesday, May 8th from 2:45 - 5:00 in the NHS LGI Room. All students currently in grades 8-11 are encouraged to audition! Returning team members in grades 9-11 must also sign up for an audition slot. You can sign up for a time slot & pick up an information sheet outside of the theatre room (Room 3105). For an AL pass, see Mr. Starks in Room 1061 or Mrs. Nieten in Room 3105. "Are you interested in going to Sweden, Denmark, and Norway? There will be a study abroad opportunity in these exact locations the Summer of 2019. Travelers will be able to meander through museums full of Viking history, visit the lovely islands and famous landmarks, and bask in the sun in some of the most beautiful cities in the world. Not only is this experience a lovely travel opportunity but international study abroad opportunities look great on college resumes. So, if you want to join in on this adventure you must act soon. There are only a few spaces left and they are filling up fast. Please see Mrs. McCreery in room 1200 for more information on this event."
News from Guidance
Do you care about reducing the stigma of mental illness and suicide? Do you want to know how to help others who may be struggling with mental illness? If so, then you should come to The Stigma Free Club! They will be meeting during AL this Friday, April 27th at 1:15 in Room 2223. This is a different location than where the club normally meets. The meeting is having a special guest speaker who is a student at HSE tell her own story relating to mental health. There will be free food! If you have never been to one of their meetings before, then stop by the Counseling Department to get a pass from Miss Fitting. If you have any questions, please email Miss Fitting

The Susan Flora Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior enrolled in NHS's Resource program. Qualifying seniors will be receiving an email from Mrs. Ellis & Mrs. Fotiades by April 23rd. If interested, please submit the application NO LATER than April 30th.

Ivy Tech Community College-Hamilton County is a partner in the Hamilton County Workforce Innovation Network focusing on training programs for high-wage, high demand careers. Three of Hamilton County’s major economic sectors - information technologies, business/finance, and construction – are projected to have hundreds of job openings during the next decade. Through grants from the Duke Energy Foundation and the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Ivy Tech Community College-Hamilton County is offering scholarships for the following programs:

Applications have just opened up for Camp Cardiac Indianapolis & Camp Neuro Indianapolis 2018!
Camp Cardiac & Camp Neuro, run by medical students in over 30 cities nationwide, are 1-week summer day camps for high school students interested in exploring careers in medicine.

Sports
"There will be a call-out meeting for the Boys Soccer Program on May 9th at 1:15 during AL in the LGI room. Any athlete thinking about trying out for the program next school year should be in attendance. We will discuss spring and summer schedules. Students will return to AL with a pass."
There will be a girl’s golf call out meeting on Monday, April 30 at 6:30 PM at Harbour Trees Golf Club. Anyone planning to try out for the girl’s golf team in the fall should plan to attend
Tickets are on sale in the Athletic Office for the varsity baseball game this Friday night at Victory Field. The Millers play Carmel at 8:00 pm.
Coaches Miss Ebeyer and Miss Mann will be hosting clinics for girls who want to prepare for dance team tryouts. Even if you did not come to the call out, come to a clinic to learn about dance team. The coaches will teach technique and short hip-hop and jazz dances. Clinics are every Tuesday until May 8 from 3-4pm in the Aux Gym.
If you are a lifeguard who needs to renew your current certification, there will be a recertification training Monday May 7th during AL. Please contact Coach Steele for more details or to register.
