Homeschool / Private School Non-Public Enrollment Application Request for 2020-21 School Year
In accordance with Policy 9270 and 9270.01, please complete the following link annually in order to formally request to attend Noblesville Schools while enrolled as a homeschooled or non-public school student.
Policy 9270 - EQUIVALENT INSTRUCTION FOR COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE COMPLIANCE PURPOSES (HOME SCHOOLING AND NON-PUBLIC, NON-ACCREDITED, INNOVATIVE, OR VIRTUAL EDUCATION SCHOOLS)
The Board offers tuition-free enrollment to all school-age children with legal settlement within the Corporation’s legal boundaries. In order to comply with the Indiana Compulsory Attendance law, the parent/guardian of a child between the age of 7 and 18 must be enrolled in an accredited school or be provided with instruction that is equivalent to the instruction made available by the Board.
A student who is being educated at a home school, non-public, non-accredited, innovative, or virtual education school may enroll in one or more academic courses with the approval of the Superintendent or designee. The enrollment request must be submitted in writing to the Superintendent or designee prior to ten (10) days after the start of school. The Superintendent will consider the request based on space availability and course requirements. Such enrollments will be submitted to the State for funding purposes. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parents.
The Superintendent or designee may allow a resident student who is being educated at one of the types of schools listed above and taking one (1) or more courses at a Corporation school to participate in one or more of the Corporation’s co-curricular or extra-curricular activities provided s/he meets the eligibility criteria established for the activity. The participation will be limited to those activities, which are ongoing rather than a single event.
Policy 9270.01 - HOME SCHOOL, NON-PUBLIC, NON-ACCREDITED, INNOVATIVE, OR VIRTUAL EDUCATION SCHOOL STUDENTS: ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION AND GRADUATION CEREMONY
A student attending home school, non-public, non-accredited, innovative, or virtual education school must have approval of the Superintendent or designee to take one or more classes at the high school and participate in an extra- or co-curricular activity per policy 9270. Once the approval of the Superintendent or designee has been given, the student may enroll in class(es). If the student chooses to participate in a school-sanctioned sport, s/he must comply with IHSAA enrollment and eligibility requirements. If the student does not meet IHSAA eligibility rules, s/he will not be permitted to participate in a school-sanctioned sport.
In order to be a graduate of Noblesville High School and participate in the graduation ceremony, a student must be enrolled full time at Noblesville High School for at least the eighth semester and pass all state-required graduation exams.
