NHS Recognized in Top 1% Nationally for STEM


Noblesville Schools has announced that Noblesville High School (NHS) has been nationally recognized for the third year in a row as a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Distinguished School for providing broad access to transformative Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) learning opportunities for students.

NHS is one of only three high schools in Indiana to receive the three-time recognition, putting them in an elite, top 1% group nationally.

Noblesville East Middle School, Hinkle Creek Elementary and White River Elementary were also recognized, with Noblesville East the only middle school in the state to receive the honor three years in a row. Noblesville West Middle School, North Elementary and Stony Creek Elementary have been recognized previously.

Noble Crossing Elementary and Promise Road Elementary are not eligible for consideration as they utilize their own STEM programming rather than curriculum through PLTW.

Noblesville Schools offers 14 different PLTW courses for middle and high school students including classes like robotics, biomedical, cybersecurity and aerospace engineering. It is also one of only a few districts in the state to offer PLTW programming K-12, with elementary students exploring flight, energy, robotics and more.  

“We’re proud to provide engaging STEM learning at all grade levels and are honored to be named to this list of distinguished schools,” said Annetta Petty, Noblesville Schools executive director of learning. “Real-world, hands-on STEM learning is critical in developing skills for future educational opportunities and in-demand career paths.”  

The Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW STEM programs. To be eligible for the designation, schools had to offer a variety of PLTW STEM courses and have a significant portion of students participating in them, while students had to demonstrate mastery in the content and continuation in the programming.
