Automotive Services Technology I

    Noblesville High School, Ivy Tech Community College, and Hare Chevrolet have teamed together to offer students the opportunity to earn NHS credit, but also Ivy Tech Community College credit. This class is located off campus, on the Hare Chevrolet Truck Center on East Conner Street.

    The Automotive Services Technology I covers five sections of Automotive Technology. The first section gives students an overview of the operating and general maintenance systems of the modern automobile; as well as, the safety and operation of equipment and tools. The second section gives an overview of the electrical operating systems of the modern automobile. This is a fundamentals of electricity and automotive electronics. The third section gives an indepth study of vehicle electrical systems. The fourth section teaches theory, service and repair of automotive braking system. This emphasis the professional diagnosis and repair methods of brake systems. The fifth section focus’ on repair techniques for today’s engines. The course utilizes precision measuring tools, specialized tools and equipment, and emphasizes prescribed procedures to repair today’s modern engine.

    Students may earn dual credit through Ivy Tech if a grade of 75% or higher is earned.

    Prerequisites: Introduction to Transportation
