Student Media: Broadcast

  • Grades: 10, 11, 12

Student Media: Broadcast, a course based on the High School Journalism Standards and the Mass Media and Media Literacy Standards, is the study of the importance of mass media as pervasive in modern life at the local, national, and global levels.  It includes a study of the impact of constant and immediate news, entertainment, and persuasive messages on everyday life.  Students use course content to become knowledgeable consumers of mass media in preparation for their roles as informed citizens in a democratic society. Students who enroll in Student Media will be responsible for the production of Noblesville High School’s daily news program. Because the show is a vital avenue for student communication, students will be expected to produce a significant number of news stories and news shows over the course of the year; and, as a requirement of the class, students will be expected to work outside of class/outside of the regular school day by covering various extra-curricular functions held at NHS in order to gather news for the show.

    • One year course, two credits
    • Counts as an Elective for the General, Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors and Core 40 with Technical Honors diploma
