Intro to Adv. Manufacturing & Logistics

    Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics is a course that specializes in how people use modern manufacturing systems with an introduction to advanced manufacturing and logistics and their relationship to society, individuals, and the environment. Manufacturing impacts everything we do in modern society. Students learn how Manufacturing looks and functions today. Second semester students study Logistics or how the materials needed to produce goods and the finished products are moved through out the world. The content for the course is delivered through Ivy Tech’s Blackboard. Blackboard consists of online videos, tutorials, simulations, and quizzes. Topics include: Plant Layout, Safety, Regulating and Practicing Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, History of CNC, Parts Programs, Basic Measurement, Pneumatics as well as Hydraulics. Some other learning experiences include field trips to Advanced Manufacturing facilities.
    Prerequisites: None
    • Credits: 1 per semester; 2 semesters
    • Counts as a Directed Elective or Elective for the General, Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors and Core 40 with Technical Honors diplomas
    • Earn 2 APICS and 1 MSSC certificate
    • Dual Credit (MPRO 100 and MPRO 106 through IvyTech – 6 credits!)
