    Kindergarten Age and Early Entrance

    Kindergarten Early Entrance

According to Indiana law, children must be at least five years of age on or before August 1, 2021 in order to enroll in kindergarten.

We will consider early entrance to kindergarten for children who will be five by September 1, 2021. A child with a birthday of September 2 or after will not be considered for early entrance and should start kindergarten the following year.

Because we want to best ensure success for all children who begin kindergarten, early admission decisions will be based on academic, social and emotional readiness.

To be considered, the application for early entrance to kindergarten must be completed by June 2, 2021.

Applicants will be scheduled during the summer for an evaluation with kindergarten teachers. The early entrance evaluation team, including the Executive Director of Learning, will review each child’s data and communicate a decision regarding early entrance.

    First Grade Early Entrance

Children who will turn six on or after August 1, 2021 may be considered for early entrance to first grade.

Noblesville Schools requires evidence of successful completion of an accredited kindergarten program (ie: report card/attendance report, letter of recommendation, or phone interview with school director) in order to enroll early for first grade.

If the child has not completed an accredited kindergarten program or otherwise does not have evidence of successful kindergarten completion, an application for early entrance to first grade must be submitted by June 2, 2021.

Applicants will be scheduled during the summer for an evaluation with a principal, educator or the Executive Director of Learning. The early entrance evaluation team will review each child’s data and communicate a decision regarding early entrance.

    Kindergarten Assessment and Orientation
Kindergarten assessments evaluate where each student is academcially and socially, and will give your kindergarten teacher a chance to meet your child and best prepare for their arrival. Assessments take place in late spring/summer and you will receive more details when you enroll.
Once you enroll, you will also receive additional information regarding kindergarten orientation. Orientation will answer many of your questions about kindergarten, including riding the bus, eating lunch in the cafeteria and much more!
