Music at North Elementary is not singing songs out of a book. It involves playing instruments, learning to appreciate music from the past and present, interpreting writen music, moving to music and creating new music, moving to music and creating new music on the spot. These elements combined create our Indiana State Standards fro music. The goal of my classroom is to foster an environment where the process of making music is exciting and enjoyable.
Within my area I do incorporate the classroom units when applicable. Any extra connections to classroom lessons makes for better understanding for all children.
It is my hope that every student leave North Elementary feeling confident in their ability to take music with them throughout their lives. It is my hope that someday they choose to share it with the world.
