In the music room, we spend our days singing, dancing and playing! The curriculum in the music room is based on the National and State Standards for Music. We reach those standards through a combination of several different elementary music methodologies, primarily Orff Schulwerk. The Orff Schulwerk teaching method based on the idea that children learn best through play. Musical concepts are taught through children's natural explorations of song, speech, dance, and creation. Much of this exploration is done through the use of child-sized xylophones and classroom instruments such as drums, tambourines, shakers, etc. To learn more about Orff and to see a video of it in action, click the picture below!
