In the WRE music classroom, children explore music through the Orff
Schulwerk (or Orff for short) method of music education. This method is
based on things children like to do: sing, chant rhymes, clap, dance,
and keep a beat on anything close by. The students use these as a means
for learning music by imitating and creating it first, and then reading
and writing it later—the same way we all learned our own language.
In
addition, it is my goal to teach your children much more than just
music - I want your children to practice real life skills in my
classroom. Responsibility, integrity, team work, leadership,
respectfulness, and honesty are just a few of the traits we practiced
each week in the music classroom.
