  • This newsletter is written for this past week Dec. 14th and the coming weeks of Dec. 21st.

    No Journey's story this week.

     Reading Workshop:

We finished our Flat Stanley project and next week we will work on specific reading skills in fiction and nonfiction.

    Writing workshop:

We are revising the chapters in our informational writing this week and will start to rewrite into our books.

     Book Clubs:

We have started to read chapter books in book clubs.  The students seem very excited to read these books.  Each time the students read I am going to have them focus on a different reading skill along with any words or phrases that they don't understand.  The discussions yesterday were very lively and strong.
The students are reading Mondays and Wednesdays and discussing Tuesdays and Thursdays. If the students do not get finished reading on Monday or Wednesday, then they are to bring their folder home and finish reading that night.  That way they can be ready to discuss the next day.  They can count that reading towards their 20 min. for the day.

More Homework – Please sign your child's reading log for them to turn in on Monday.  We have talked in class about how important it is to just read.  Just spending time reading will make students better readers.  The more they read they better they will get. We have also talked about how building a better vocabulary will help reading and testing.  We have engaged in more vocabulary activities this past week.
ELearning Day - Most students were able to get on Seesaw on Wed.  If you were not able to, make sure that you have the Seesaw Learning Journal App downloaded.  The kids will not be able to get to their page if just the Seesaw parent app. is downloaded.
Wednesday early release - Early release every Wed. 2:55.
Transportation Changes - If you have any change in transportation, (i.e. - your child
normally rides the bus and is a car rider one day for whatever reason).  I need you to please send in a note with your child.  I will send this note to the office so that they are aware of the change.
Library -  Library week of Jan. 21st is Wednesday.
Just a reminder that students can access any website we
use in class on my webpage by going to educational websites.
Lesson friend is a great website for students to use for a variety
    of subjects.
