  • This newsletter is written for this past week Nov. 5th and the coming week of November 12th.

    No Journey's test this week.

     Reading Workshop:

We are starting our nonfiction unit this coming week.  We will be reading nonfiction books and learning how to best understand the information we are getting from nonfiction text.

    Writing workshop:

We are finishing up our personal narratives.  We will be starting our informational writing unit later next week.

     Book Clubs:

The introduction of book clubs has gotten off to a great start.
Next weeks words will be wr words along with high frequency words.  This list will be created on Spelling City and will be sent to the kids on seesaw.  They can do many activities on Spelling City to learn how to spell the words.  We will spend time in class doing different activities.

  •  Important Announcements
Homework - Next weeks homework Nov. 12th - Nov. 16th - Last weeks reading log is due                                  Monday the 1st.
Reading - Read for 80 min. and fill out reading log.  The students can split this                          time among the days however they want.  I suggest 20 min. Mon. - Thurs.
Math -  A homelink will come home Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and                                        Thursday.
Food Drive Extended - Next week the Hazel Dell Student Council will be sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Noblesville Schools Weekend Meal Packs and the Noblesville Fire Department's Christmas Assistance Program.   Each Noblesville School will be collecting a different food item, and this year Hazel Dell has been asked to collect fruit cups.    Please send in any type of fruit cups between Monday, November 12 - Friday, November 16 to help support Hamilton County families in need.
More Homework – Please sign your child's reading log for them to turn in on Monday.  We have talked in class about how important it is to just read.  Just spending time reading will make students better readers.  The more they read they better they will get. We have also talked about how building a better vocabulary will help reading and testing.  We have engaged in more vocabulary activities this past week.
Wednesday early release - Early release every Wed. 2:55.
Transportation Changes - If you have any change in transportation, (i.e. - your child
normally rides the bus and is a car rider one day for whatever reason).  I need you to please send in a note with your child.  I will send this note to the office so that they are aware of the change.
Library -  Library week of Nov. 12th is Monday.
Just a reminder that students can access any website we
use in class on my webpage by going to educational websites.
Lesson friend is a great website for students to use for a variety
    of subjects.
