This newsletter is written for the coming week of March 18th.
Reading Workshop: This week we compared and contrasted two texts on the same topic.
Clever: Clever can be accessed on any device at home. Go to the Clever website on any device. Then log in as student and scan the QR Code. They will have access to everything on Clever then.
Mobymax is a great resource for extra skill learning. This can be accessed through Clever.
Razkids is a great reading source that can be accessed through Clever.
Writing workshop: This week we used pictures as an inspiration to write stories. We practiced punctuating dialogue, paragraphing, figurative language, and using strong action words to help our stories be the best they can be.
Word work: Homophones were our focus this week.
Math: Students should be practicing all multiplication facts at home. We have learned all of them and are working on using strategies to figure them out and working on having fact power with our facts.
We finished up our unit on comparing fractions. The students did a great job on their tests.
Addition and Subtraction - Students should be practicing simple facts at home. It is really important that they know these.

Tuesday – Kindness is classy. Ties, Tiaras, Tutus.
Wednesday – Be kind to friends. Twin day.
Thursday – Kindness never takes a vacation. Tourist/Vacation clothing.
Friday – Hazel Dell is rockin’ kindness and you know it. Spirit Wear Day.
Students who wish to participate are encouraged to design a poster (standard paper size) that represents kindness. Examples are below. Entries must be turned in to the office by the end of the day Wednesday March 20th. Please make sure the student’s name and their teacher's name are on the back of the poster. Posters will be displayed, and winners will be chosen Friday March 22th.

Library: Library is every Friday for our class.Transportation Changes: If you have any change in transportation,(i.e. - your child normally rides the bus and is a car rider one day forwhatever reason). I need you to please send in a note with your child.I will send this note to the office so that they are aware of the change.Clever, Sumdog, Epic, Prodigy and Mobymax: Students have a yellow sheet that they will always keep in their homework folders. This sheet has login cards and passwords on it. Right now logins to Clever, Google Docs, Canvas, Sumdog, Epic and Prodigy are on the sheet. Mobymax is also a great app for students to use to sharpen all skills. The students have an automatic login to Mobymax through Clever.
