Canvas Learning Management System

WHAT IS CANVAS?

The Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) is used by NS teachers as an extension to in-class instruction. Teachers using Canvas can post assignments, give feedback and communicate with students. Canvas can also serve as a one stop shop for digital tools and content.
 

OBSERVER ACCOUNTS
Canvas Observer Logo Parents/Guardians can access Observer accounts to view grades, resources and activities posted in their child's courses. The Canvas Parent app can be installed on mobile devices (iOS, Android) to make viewing more convenient. Observer accounts can:

• View student grades
• Read announcements
• View the calendar
• See the course syllabus
• Access a list of assignments with due dates
• See online assignments, but not discussion posts
• Set up email or text notifications for announcements, assignments and more

How To:

• Sign up for a Canvas account as a parent

• Generate a pairing code for an observer as a student

• Utilize the Canvas Parent App? (vimeo video)

• Observe additional students in your account

• Learn how to modify your Canvas notification preferences

  • If you are experiencing issues with the Canvas App, visit https://noblesville.instructure.com/login/ldap on any web browser.

  • Go to the iPad's "Settings" - "Canvas Student" - Turn on "Allow Cross-Website Tracking" and "Reset cache on next launch."

• If this does not fix the issue, try the following:

1. Close all open applications (double click the home button, use a finger to swipe up on each open application)

2. Turn OFF "Request Desktop Website" (Go to Settings - Safari - open Request Desktop Website - Slide Off).

3. Clear Web Browser History (Stay in Settings - Safari - Clear History).

4. Make sure Pop-up Blockers are OFF (Stay in Settings - Safari - Block Pop-ups - Toggle OFF
