Science

At Noblesville Schools, our middle school science program is designed to ignite curiosity and deepen understanding of the world through exploration, collaboration, and critical thinking. Grounded in the 2023 Indiana Science Standards, our approach reflects a significant shift in how science is taught and learned—moving beyond memorizing facts to engaging students in the practices of real scientists and engineers.

Across grades 6–8, students investigate compelling phenomena and problems, develop evidence-based explanations, and construct new understanding through hands-on learning. Each unit is carefully designed to integrate the three dimensions of science learning: disciplinary core ideas, science and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts. This three-dimensional approach supports deeper learning and helps students make meaningful connections across scientific disciplines.

Our program empowers students to ask questions, test ideas, and revise their thinking as they learn how science works—and why it matters. With this foundation, Noblesville students are prepared not just for high school science, but for thinking critically in an ever-changing world.

The following are the 25-26 Units of Study for Grades 6-8. This page will be updated with additional courses throughout the 25-26 school year.
