• Kindergarten Early Entrance (Spanish)

Children must be at least five years of age on or before August 1, 2023 in order to enroll for kindergarten. If your child will be five after August 1, but on or before October 1, 2023 they can be considered for early entrance by following the steps listed below.

To best ensure success for all children who begin kindergarten, early admission decisions will be based on academic, social and emotional readiness.

     Step 1:

Submit the following items by June 1st:

    - Kindergarten Early Entrance Application (English)

    - Kindergarten Early Entrance Application (Spanish)

    - Copy of child’s birth certificate

    - Letter of recommendation from your child’s preschool teacher

    - Letter of recommendation from you stating why you believe it is in your child’s best interest to enter kindergarten at the age of four.

    - (Optional) formal assessments of intelligence and/or achievement from an independent evaluator

**Your child must be available for testing the week of June 12th**

     Step 2:

Parents will be contacted by Friday, June 2nd to set an appointment for your child’s evaluation for the week of June 12th.

    Early Entrance Evaluation will include:

    - Child Assessment (Foundation literacy and numeracy skills)

    - Observation of child in classroom setting (social, emotional and behavioral)

    - Parent(s) Interview

     Step 3:

The early entrance evaluation team, including the Executive Director of Learning and Assistant Director of Elementary Learning, will review each child’s data and communicate a decision regarding early entrance by the end of June. All decisions are final.

Please note your child’s school placement will be dependent on enrollment numbers. Your assigned home school is not guaranteed, and the placement will be finalized the second week of July.

Parents should NOT attempt to enroll their child until their application AND school placement has been approved by the Executive Director of Learning and Assistant Director of Elementary Learning.
