  • Financial Terms of Mobile Technology Use

    Use and Maintenance Fees
    Parents of students in grades 6-12 that are assigned a take-home iPad Air or newer, will pay a non-refundable $40 fee each semester through the textbook rental system. Seniors must clear all records and pay all fees before participating in commencement exercises.

    Parents of 4th and 5th grade students using repurposed iPads, will pay a non-refundable $20 fee each semester, for ongoing maintenance of existing technology. In addition to the use and maintenance fees, parents of students in grade 4 will pay a 5$ consumable fee for their iPad charging cable. Students will only receive a charging cable the first time they are issued a NS device. It is the sole responsibility of the student to replace lost, stolen or damaged cables.

    iPad Costs – for Lost, Stolen or Full-Cost Damage
    If the district issued iPad or power adapter is lost, stolen, or totally damaged as a result of irresponsible behavior, the parent may be responsible for the full replacement cost.

    • iPad (2017 edition, 32GB) - $299.00
    • iPad Air (16GB) - $279.00
    • iPad 4 (16GB) - $179.00
    • Power adapters - $15.00
    • K-8 Case - $35.00
    • NHS Case - $45.00
    • NHS Keyboard - $45.00

    Damaged iPads
    Any damage must be reported to school authorities immediately. At that time school authorities will determine if damage is accidental or due to irresponsible behavior.

    For those not enrolled in MillerCare+, the deductibles below apply:
    First accidental damage occurrence ($100.00): Student will get a replacement iPad upon payment of the deductible.
    Second accidental damage occurrence: Cost to repair the iPad or fair market value, possible loss of iPad take-home privileges. The replacement iPad will be checked in and out daily during the school day.
    Third accidental damage occurrence: Cost to repair the iPad or fair market value and loss of take-home iPad privileges.
