  • This newsletter is written for the coming week of Oct. 2nd

      Reading Workshop:    This week in reading we read "Yonder Mountain."  We looked at characteristics that made it a folktale.   We also concentrated on the main characters and describing them.  We practiced on pulling out examples from the text that fit the character trait for each character.  

    Clever:  Clever can be accessed on any device at home.  Go to the Clever website on any device.  Then log in as student and scan the QR Code.  They will have access to everything on Clever then.  

    Mobymax is a great resource for extra skill learning.  This can be accessed through Clever.

    Razkids is a great reading source that can be accessed through Clever.  

    Writing workshop:       The students have mapped their books into chapters and subheadings within their chapters.  They have done a great job filling the subheadings with their own information and researched information. We are now ready to write our introduction and rough draft of our chapters.  

    Word work:     We did more work with long O and next week we will focus our attention on adjectives.  

     Math:     This 3rd unit has been an introduction to the basics of mult. and div.  We will have the test over unit 3 next Friday.  

    Addition and Subtraction - Students should be practicing simple facts at home.  It is really important that they know these.

     Homework - The week of October 2nd - 
     
    Reading Log -  Students should read for 20 min. Mon. - Thurs.  Parents please sign your child's reading log.  If students turn in their reading logs on Friday then they will get to play in our weekly hoopshoot.   
     
    Math homework - Mon. - Thurs. 
     
    Music Informance -  Mon. Oct. 2nd, 8:40 - 9:25 -  A sheet has been sent home to explain this.  This is put on by the music teacher Mrs. Spaulding.  In order to attend, you must send in the RSVP slip and have a level 3 background check.      
     

    Fall Party:

    Water bottles:  Students may bring water bottles to class.  

     
     Library:   Library is every Friday for our class.
     
     Transportation Changes: If you have any change in transportation, 
    (i.e. - your child normally rides the bus and is a car rider one day for 
    whatever reason).  I need you to please send in a note with your child.  
    I will send this note to the office so that they are aware of the change.
     
     Clever, Sumdog, Epic, Prodigy and Mobymax:   Students have a yellow sheet that they will always keep in their homework folders.  This sheet has login cards and passwords on it.  Right now logins to Clever, Google Docs, Canvas, Sumdog, Epic and Prodigy are on the sheet.    Mobymax is also a great app for students to use to sharpen all skills.  The students have an automatic login to Mobymax through Clever.
