Lance Scheib, currently the head football coach at Franklin Central High School, is the new head football coach at Noblesville High School. The Noblesville Board of School Trustees approved his hiring as coach and a social studies teacher on Tuesday, February 19.
“To say I am excited about the opportunity to be the head football coach at Noblesville High School would be the understatement of the year,” the coach said. “I look forward to using a similar plan of building quality student athletes at Noblesville as we have used at both Franklin Central High School and Lebanon High School.”
Coach Scheib compiled a record of 48 wins and 27 losses in seven years as the head coach at Franklin Central. The Flashes had not had a winning season in the six seasons prior to his arrival. He was the head coach at Lebanon High School from 1992 through 2000.
“We feel very fortunate to get a coach of Lance Scheib's ability,” said NHS athletic director Steve Hurst. “He has a passion and enthusiasm that is infectious. He brings a commitment to fundamental football, discipline, and player development that we will need to rebuild the program. I believe our players and our community will respond very positively to his leadership and vision.”
Mrs. Petty adds: “Lance Scheib impressed the various participants in the selection process with his knowledge, organization, and experience as a varsity football coach. He is also a committed social studies teacher who will bring energy and knowledge to the classes he teaches. Lance is a great addition to the NHS faculty and coaching staff.”
A 1985 graduate of Warren Central High School and a four-year letter winner at Purdue University, he received his bachelor’s degree in education with a major in social studies. He is married to his wife of 13 years, Kristen, and they have three sons, J.D., 10; Drew, 9; and Christopher, 7.
“Having the chance to raise my family in the Noblesville community is something I am looking forward to,” Coach Scheib said. “The Noblesville teaching-coaching opportunity is a great fit for me and my family now and for the future.”
