Why are you asking taxpayers to help?

The third adjustment is to ask the voters of the school district to approve a $5 million operational referendum to allow the district to replace money in the General Fund to offset
• some of the reduction in the per pupil funding from the state ($1.2 million by 2012)
• the unanticipated reduction of $2.3 million in January 2010
• the increased operating expense ($821,740) of additional square footage when renovation and building projects are completed in 2011 and 2012
• and the incremental increases in teacher salaries ($525,000 per year).

This also will give Noblesville Schools the ability to maintain reasonable class sizes as enrollment growth continues and to fund the rising costs of health benefits.
